8. Causes – solutions :

  • These days, it is getting more and more difficult for people to enjoy living in cities. Why is this? What can the government do to make city life more enjoyable?

9. Two-part expository :

  • In education and employment, some people work harder than others. Why do some people work harder? Is it always a good thing to work hard?

10. Two-part opinion based :

  • Happiness if often considered difficult to define. What do you think are the reasons behind? What factors determine happiness?

11. Mixed type of questions :

  • Many people prefer to watch foreign films rather than locally produced films. Why could this be? Is it a positive or negative trend?

How to Begin?

Each student gets 40 minutes in total finish the task. The candidate needs to think and plan the essay using the brainstorming method in initial 10 minutes of time out of 40 minutes. Following this, they need to spend 25 minutes to convert brainstormed ideas forming sentences. There must be either 4 or 5 paragraphs written as per the type of essay.

How to Write Introduction?

Here are some of the examples that will describe you how you can structure your introduction part. There are three points need to be included in the introduction part.

  • General sentence
  • Paraphrase the topic
  • Thesis/outline

General Sentence

General sentence at the beginning of the introduction part should be very common and simple sentence related to the topic.

Paraphrase The Topic

There are three various methods to paraphrase the topic:

Using synonymous :

For example:

Question: Some parents buy their children whatever they ask for, and allow their children to do whatever they want.

  • Is this a good way to raise children?
  • What consequences could this style of parenting have for children as they get older?

Answer: In this current era, few guardians purchase things for their kids whenever they demand and even permit them all what they wish easily.

Flipping the order of the sentence :

For example:

Question: Some people think that the best way to succeed in life is to get a university education, while others disagree and say that it is no longer true nowadays. Discuss both views and give your own opinions.

Answer: It is said by few that graduation does not require to be successful, as without that also; a person can get succeed, however others oppose the statement.

Using passive form :

For example:

Question: Some people say that all popular TV entertainment programmers should aim to educate viewers about important social issues. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Answer: It is said by many that viewers should be educated on important social issues by all well-known TV entertainment programmers.

Thesis can be written where it is asked, writing thesis means writing personal opinion on the given essay trend, whereas outline is for all the expository essays, wherein there isn’t a need of writing personal opinion.

Examples for thesis:

  • If completely going with the trend: In my opinion, I strongly favor the given contention.
  • If completely against the trend: In my opinion, I completely oppose the given notion.
  • If going partial: In my opinion, there are equal amount of advantages and drawbacks available for the given assertion.
  • If going 70%-30%: In my opinion, I totally agree/disagree with the given phenomenon, however the only minor benefit/disadvantage cannot be neglected/overlooked/ignored.

Examples for outline:

  • This essay shall discuss the major causes associated with this epidemic together with some possible remedial measures to ameliorate the situation.
  • This essay shall discuss the major issues associated with this trend together with some possible remedial measures to ameliorate the situation. Let’s have example here,

For example:

  • Overconsumption of fast food may lead to obesity.
  • What are the problems associated with this?

How can it be controlled?

  • In this fast-paced life, health is the major concern. Excessive amount of fast food eating habits can result into extreme weight gain. This essay shall discuss the major problems associated with this epidemic together with some possible remedial measures to deal with the situation.

  • Do not mug up the answers from any reference material, better write naturally
  • Make sure to not to add any informal phrases or idioms what make the task look informal
  • Try to avoid repeating vocabulary or any ideas or sentences
  • Write in formal tone of language. For that, use modal auxiliaries and passive formations together with formal vocabulary.
  • Especially follow the assessment criteria.
  • Write task in provided time, don’t take extra minutes.
